Piano Lessons
When considering the best starting instrument for a young child, piano is often the best place to start. Nearly all accomplished musicians, composers, and conductors are proficient on the piano. An understanding of the piano allows people to transition into other instruments much more quickly. Since all of the notes are arranged in patterns, learning how to read notes and intervals happens with relative ease. The piano is also a versatile instrument, allowing the musician to play a wide variety of music. Our piano students focus on:
• Learning how to read music, along with sight-reading skills
• An emphasis of technique and mechanics through the study of scales, arpeggios, and other finger-strengthening exercises. A foundation of correct technique allows the musician to focus on musicality and interpretation, letting the music shine through.
• Works in the classical repertoire ranging from the Baroque through modern eras.
• Works in other genres such as: movie music, musicals, pop, rock, country, blues, jazz

Guitar Lessons
When you think of your favorite songs, a guitar is often heard above the other instruments. Because of the versatility, there is plethora of music from which to select. The beauty and ease-of-listening to a classical guitar makes it a good choice for classical musicians. If playing the Beatles or Taylor Swift is more exciting, we are happy to find a genre that fits your preference. A high level of importance is placed on finding which styles motivate the musician. Our guitar students learn:
• Proper technique: hand placement, posture
• Reading music; both through staff and tablature notation
• Various exercises, such as scales and arpeggios, to facilitate speed and fluidity
• Fingerstyle and flatpicking techniques
• All open and barre chords
• Works in the classical repertoire
• How to solo/accompany in standard 12 bar blues, or other jam band styles
• Other genres such as: blues, folk, rock, country, pop, and jazz
